Summary

In our current economic climate, the pressure to work hard and do well is constant. Because of this, making sure we have time to unwind and relax is vital.

Wellness and the focus on self-care is very much becoming a key part of modern life, but not all of us practise the idea. We work long hours, take little breaks and try to fit as much in as we can when out of the office. But, while maintaining a social life is important, we also need to give ourselves time to completely relax. This may mean enjoying a moment of peace with breakfast in the morning, or scheduling in an hour to have a bath and pamper yourself in the evening.

Despite knowing how important taking time out is, there are many of us who still don’t give ourselves a moment’s rest. So, why is work/life balance so important?

I have worked in the public and private sector as a social worker for over 16 years and know the pressures and stress that staff are experincing trying to keep all the plates spinning. I know first hand the challanges people have maintaining a healthy worklife balance. Now more than at any time before we are seeing more and more people experincing stress, anxiety and burn out. As stated above this costs the economy millions in having to cover sickness with temporary staff and has a huge impact on the morale and productivity of teams and organisations. 

After qualifying as a life coach I have decided to help buisnesses and public sector organisations support their staff in maintaining a healthy work life balance through running workshops on self care and stress management and wellbeing days were staff can recieve group or individual coahing and holistic therapies such as reiki, indian head massage and meditaion. As a woman in buisness I have a real passion for helping other women in particular in acheiving more balance and self care in their lives.
