Why do people stand on escalators? Worse than that, why do they stand and block escalators? It's virtually unlawful in London - and dangerous. It takes 15 seconds to walk down (or up) the escalator at my local Tesco, or 90 seconds to stand still on it. Discounting those who are not able to walk down (or up) escalators, why do able-bodied stand still on an empty escalator, and, even worse, why are they not aware they're slowing those of us who never want to waste a second?
