To resign or not to resign?

To resign or not to resign?

I was digging through our archives the other day and came across a survey by 'Approved Index'. They found that 42% of employees have resigned because of a poor relationship with a line manager - astounding!

The worst industries were recruitment (100%), travel and tourism (77%), marketing and PR (63%) and accountancy (61%). The next 5 included events, entertainment, fashion, agriculture and architecture.

It seems the old adage that 'people don’t leave jobs, they leave managers’, is correct!

But if it's a good job and it fits into the overall plan you have for your career progress you don't have to leave.

However, one thing that would help would be to 'up' your emotional intelligence so that you are more able to cope with and manage work relationships professionally.
