At sTitch Leggings (our Shopify store), we figured this out... and the results have been amazing.
For example, I just got this message from a Sneez user:

When we did work out how to buy customers from Facebook/Google, each one was MUCH more valuable.
We used this user generated content on our social media channels for increased engagement and on our Shopify store for MASSIVE social proof.
The only issue was that these tasks:
Chasing customers to create and share content
Giving rewards
Managing and distributing the user generated content
...were VERY time consuming.
So we decided to automate EVERYTHNG.
And after 4 months of coding...

And as you can imagine, adding this user generated content feed to our product page has led to a significantly increased conversion rate:
